Why should I serve?

God gives us interests and skills that, when put to use, enable us to make a real difference in our church, community, and world. When we serve others, we find community and joy in following Christ’s example and we grow in our love for God and man. At Discovery we believe that spiritual growth and serving go hand in hand.

Does Discovery Church really need me to serve?

ABSOLUTELY! While we understand that to some it may look like we have all the bases covered, hundreds of needs exist and we need your help. If our church is to thrive, if people’s needs are to be met, each of us needs to step up to the plate and join what God is doing in and through people.

How do I find out what serving opportunities are available for me?

The best place to start is the Search Volunteer Opportunities section on the Discovery Serves webpage. To search for opportunities by ministry, simply scroll through the ministry names on the drop-down screen. Or to explore by skills and experience scroll through the interests drop-down screen. You can also search by Spiritual gifts or by the Discovery campus that you attend. Click on the search button at the end of each section to see what opportunities match your search criteria. If the search criteria looks confusing (we know there is a lot there!) You can also search by using the search feature in the upper write hand corner of the page simply by typing in any words that would describe an opportunity you are looking for.

How do I get started?

Once you decide you want to explore a specific serving opportunity, simply click Tell Me More or Sign Me Up. Someone from that ministry will get in touch with you to share with you more specifics about the opportunity. If you respond to an opportunity that exists with one of our Loveworks Partners, they will get in touch with you.

What is the time commitment?

At Discovery, we have an opportunity to fit most everyone’s schedule. In most cases, you can tailor your serving to fit your schedule and your season of life. There are serving opportunities available around the weekend services as well as throughout the week.
